Lawyers’ Holiday Antics in and Around Denver

by Alli Gerkman on December 24, 2009 · 0 comments

While going through my online reading this morning, I came across two great holiday pieces from our very own legal community here in Colorado.

First up is a must-read (it even includes a Dr. Seuss-inspired poem by a judge outlining a judicial decision on Christmas) from attorney Jim Thomas, who discusses Christmas in his ongoing series on legal holidays:

While the Christmas religious observance is centuries old, a federal Christmas holiday was not recognized until 1870. More surprising, the constitutionality of the legal holiday was not challenged until 1999.

Next, Penny Parker gives Denver lawyer Michael Axt and his creative holiday cardsĀ the lede in her latest column:

Perhaps when your job is defending potential bad guys as a criminal-defense lawyer, it’s best to have a sense of humor.

Any other holiday gems you’re reading out there on this cold and snowy morning?
