As the decade closes, there’s no shortage of talk about resolutions, so we won’t bore you with the how-tos.
Instead, we thought we’d share some of ours. After all, we heard that one way to keep a resolution is to tell people about it.
So here’s a collection of personal and professional resolutions from those of us at the Colorado Bar Association and CLE in Colorado:
- Well, my resolution this year is the same as last year, to not lose things!
- Redesign the e-newsletter.
- Find the opportunity in every challenge.
- Smile more…at everyone…even those who probably won’t smile back. Acknowledging someone who is just passing by can be exactly what that person needs at that moment – and who knows…I may even get a smile in return (but I’ll be ok if I don’t).
- Spend more time with friends.
- Stick to my budget at home, especially in the “food,” “baby” and “misc” categories.
- Teach my three-year-old son the alphabet; get my seventeen-month-old daughter on skis by the end of the season; try to savor the moment more often; find a reliable babysitter!
- Focus on solutions.
- I am going to learn how to NOT be an e-mail pack rat…delete, delete, save, delete. Not save, save, delete, save.
- I will wake up every morning with a positive attitude.
- One day a month, put the items at the bottom of my “to-do” list at the top.
- To resolve nothing.
- I’m working on having my office not look like a bomb hit it – to get more organized, have everything filed away, and be able to more effectively communicate with our volunteers about ongoing projects.
- Be vigilant about keeping an empty inbox.
- Be nicer to my husband.
- Do some creative writing every day.
- Reduce, Reuse and Recycle more.
- Bike more and golf less.
- Recruit additional Docket writers.
- Finish my 100-pound weight loss goal (only 57 pounds to go! ugh)
- Get out of bed and meditate every day for 10 minutes when I wake up.
- I’m going to lose 20 pounds… OK, maybe 15.
- Travel more.
- Teach my baby sign language.
- Add more guest contributors for this blog.
- “I’ll continue to be at war with my vices, at peace with my neighbors, and let each new year find myself as a better man.”
Happy new year.
